Diane, Kathryn, Susan and families so sorry to hear of Uncle Gordon's passing. We had a couple of opportunities during family gatherings to be with him over the past year and were delighted to have the opportunity. He was a kind and gentle person who loved to have a good conversation. He told us stories about you all and was so proud of his family. Unfortunately we are working in Battle Harbour Labrador right now so we can not be with you but we will be thinking about Uncle Gordon and of course all of you during the coming days. Take care. It is with great sadness that I offer, on behalf of Andrew Peddle and myself our sincere condolences to the daughters of The Reverend Gordon Ethridge. Andrew knew The Reverend when he served for nine years here in Southwest Arm and enjoyed the opportunity to assist him during many, many services of Holy Eucharist Prayer services, weddings, and baptisms at the local churches here. I meet the Reverend in 2008 when I sent him an invitation to come and join us at St. Alban's Church in Gooseberry as the Guest Preacher for the 80th Anniversary Celebrations. He was so delighted to come and deliver his wonderful message which we all enjoyed. I found him to be such a humble, and gentle man and I knew then that he was a very special Man of God. It was such an honour for me to meet and listen to his deliver his sermon. The Reverend Gordon torched my heart, my soul and my life. It was truly an honour to meet him. We exchanged Christmas Cards after that and I could hardly wait to receive his card and the note written within. He was a great servant of God indeed!

We express our deepest sympathies to the Ethridge family on the passing of Gordon. We knew him as a very devout man who had many stories to tell. We visited for many hours while he stayed at the Carbonear Hospital last August as he shared a room with Wilbert Harris. Wilbert was unable to speak due to having a stroke. Gordon would fill us in on all the happenings of both night and day during his stay with Wilbert. He kept a watchful eye and was an angel to all of us. We continued to visit Gordon while Wilbert was in ICU as he wanted to be kept abreast of the situation. He was very helpful spiritually when Wilbert passed away. He will surely be missed as he was a wonderful gentleman with a huge caring heart. The Harris family Carbonear
