Mrs. Mercer I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Mercer's passing. It was just last week i was asking Gail how you guys were doing. I too remember all the fun times at the restaurant and trying to be good because Aunt Jennie was always in the kitchen. Thank you for all the wonderful stories you & Mr. Mercer shared with me about our wonderful Aunt Jennie. She was truly blessed to have had you both as such wonderful friends. Please know that your are in our thoughts and prayers and may God bless you in the days ahead. Linda Parsons Mississauga

Mrs Mercer & Family We are so saddened today to learn of Mr Mercer's passing, although each and every time we called him Mr Mercer he said "no, the name is Jack". We knew Jack from the Harbour Lodge, as he was on the same unit as our Mom/Mother-in-law, Rita Tuttle. Even though he suffered from this hateful disease, called Alzheimer's, he never lost his compassion for others. He must have been a very caring, compassionate, loving man in his health for we found him to be such a gentleman to everyone on his floor. He would always give you his chair and tell us to sit a while, or tell the patients if there is anything they need to just let him know. I recall many times as they were given ice cream or some other treat, he always wanted to make sure everyone had one or he wasn't comfortable eating his, he so looked out for everybody on that floor. In the short time we knew him we found him to be a sincere, genuine friendly soul who had such a sense of humor. We always made it a point to see him every visit because Jack had a way of cheering you up and making you smile. I know we were suppose to visit to cheer others up, but Jack ALWAYS had a way of lifting our spirits, his smile was infectious. Each and every time we visited he would always shake your hand, introduce himself and tell us he was going home soon. Well, Mrs Mercer he is finally going home, and I firmly believe if Big Trucks are in Heaven, Jack Mercer is Captain of the fleet, for he dearly loved telling us stories of some of the adventures he had while truck driving. I know you will miss him dearly, because I'm sure to know Jack Mercer was to love him. Hold on to the memories of good times together, for as time eases some of the sadness you will be able to turn crying into laughter as he would want you to. Take care of each other, our prayer for you all is that God will sustain you thru your time of mourning and terrible loss. JACK OUR DEAR FRIEND KEEP ON TRUCKING. WE WILL MISS YOU. In our Prayers, Tom & Margaret Tuttle

Mrs. Mercer: So sorry to hear of Mr. Mercer's passing. I have fond memories of going to your restaurant with my mom when I was a little girl. Having a plate of your chips was a real treat back then. As a teenager, I spent many a cold Friday night there making a Coke Float last forever. You and Mr. Mercer were always so nice and patient with us "youngsters". With his passing you can be assured that all Harbour Grace will be remembering both of you at this sad time. God Bless! Sincerely, Barbara (Peddle) Meadus
