My deepest condolences for your loss. While I haven’t seen my cousin Wayne for many years, I remember him fondly when I was a teenager visiting my Aunt Edwina. Then 25 year old Wayne was kind to his 14 year old cousin and showed an interest in the youngest of the Dove clan. He talked and joked with me, invited my opinions, and tormented me as much as I did him. My parents Lloyd and Dinah Dove, now deceased, often spoke of their nephew with great affection. He will be remembered with much kindness and love.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your loved one, Wayne. I have many fond memories of my frequent visits with Wayne in Hr. Grace over the years; most especially in the 70’s through to the 90’s. Even though Wayne was an introvert in many ways, often seen with a book in his hand, he always took an interest in chatting and offering welcoming hospitality during my visits with him at his home. Along with being neighbors during my childhood years, we were also neighbors one memorable summer at Memorial while staying at Rothmere House. Despite our life-long friendship, this was where I truly got to know Wayne at a deeper level. Wayne was a bright, quick-witted, and keenly perceptive individual whose perspective was consistently based on sound logic and reasoning. Wayne did not mince words as he artfully articulated his thoughts. Through his practical and scholarly comments, Wayne lavishly nourished his conversations with a wholesome dash of humor. This humor often replicated that of Monty Python; that intelligent British genre. We often laughed together until we cried! I always felt a deep level of connection with Wayne, as he did me, I am sure. He was a caring, warm-hearted friend, and I will certainly miss him. Treasure the memories, and may you find strength in God’s presence as you journey through this challenging time of grief. May he Rest In Peace.

Dear Sue, my sincerest condolences. May you find comfort in your memories, especially in the everyday, simple moments that
probably seemed relatively insignificant at the time. Now they will probably flood back in abundance and provide comfort and peace and tears and smiles. Love, Sally

So very sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. Wayne & I crossed paths for the first time at MUN in 1971-72. Then we secured some term employment with Canada Manpower in Hr. Grace. What a time we had. Wayne had a tremendous sense of humour & we played off one another so well. Wayne always made me laugh. He was certainly a unique & very intelligent individual. I am happy to see that he had a happy relationship in his later years. Wayne will be greatly missed.RIP my friend.

My mom, Ruby Whelan, wanted to add a condolence. A few years back was one of the last times mom saw Wayne. She just had her hair done at the Newfoundland Hotel and was sitting out front waiting for my sister to pick her up. Wayne happened by, and they had a grand chat and catch up. They hadn't seen each other for a couple of years, and as mom recounts, Wayne was very happy to see her. Mom will always remember Wayne for his sparkling conversations and warm smile. She sends her sincere condolences to Susan, Rubyanne, Anne and all those who knew Wayne.

I am so sad that Wayne has passed away. My sincere condolences to those who knew Wayne and especially Susan. Wayne was my neighbour, just across the hall and daily I watched him and Susan walk the neignhourhood, hand in hand or his arm across her shoulder. So happy to have found love as this stage of their lives. I will miss his friendship with just a hello or a smile when I apologized for my three noisy grandkids came to visit. He would say, "never heard a sound." He will be missed in Building 804.

Wayne and I shared a unique friendship over the past 15 years through emails: me in Toronto, and Wayne in St. John's. Everyday we sent messages back and forth and talked all things historical/hysterical, cars, motorcycles, Harbour Grace and Newfoundland lore, shared photos, and sometimes argued. We didn't always agree on politics, geography, and music, but we bonded over being akin odd ducks. He was very smart, highly curious about many a subject, and fascinated with the deep mysteries of time and space. We would spend many emails pondering these things and more. I will miss our daily correspondences, and as Wayne would say often, "Who are we going to talk to if something happens to one of us?"

One of the best memories I have of Wayne is the summer night we drove out of St John’s . Warm but cloud free night. ( not sure why we were in there ) When we turn onto Roach’s Line ( now Vet’s ) He stopped on the side of the road. We got out and looked up the stars. It’s was supper clear that night. Wayne got two beer out of the back seat of that old Chev car he loved. We sat on the trunk Of the car and looked up. He said ‘ I wonder if there’s intelligent life out there ?’ ... Guess he knows now.Cheers to a great guy !

First met David when he moved to Harbour Grace and joined our fourth grade class. He was very smart, or we very stupid. I seem to remember him getting 100% on all the tests, he obviously came first in the class. Lost touch with him for years, but a few years back he got in touch and we shared many emails, mostly about Nfld history. He had a treasure trove of old pictures of Harbour Grace.
Smart guy, always entertaining.
RIP old friend.
