Carl & I would like to express our condolences to the Burke and Evely families on the passing of George. He was very helpful to Carl when he worked at Victoria Irving. George was always there to help when Carl had a project to get done. I never had to pump my own gas if George was around. “Go on in Sharon, I’ll get that for you” was a familiar thing to hear. He went on many trips to St. John’s with Carl and heaven help you if you passed him on the road without picking him up. He may not have been going very far but he could tell you everything that was going on in your world in the little time it took to bring him home. George was a very informed person.
We will certainly miss George. I don’t think I can ever make another Banana Bread without thinking of him. Rest In Peace George.

So shocked and so sorry to hear of George`s passing. Trudy picked George up just before Christmas coming from down to Boyd and Beverly`s his second home. They had a conversation about Christmas and how times have changed over the years. He was looking forward to coming to see me and to have a drink together. He commented on how life is way to busy now for anyone to have time for a laugh and a drink together. In the short time that I have known George I had a lot of laughs and drinks with George. I am truly sorry we did not get to have this Christmas laugh. Rest in peace George.

To: Members of the Burke Family and Extended Families
Sorry to learn about George's passing.
It has been a while since I conversed with George but when I did it was
indeed a pleasure to chat with him. George was indeed a very kind, carefree
and pleasant person to interact with.
Let the Lord be your source of comfort and strength at this time and in the days,
weeks and months ahead.
Cherish the memories.

TO The Burke and Evely families.
I was shocked to hear about George's passing. I remember many times on my way home down over the neck, coming up on George along side the road waiting for someone to give him a ride down to Gary and Debbie's place. He always started the conversation with "How's ya today Mr. Mayor "?.. He would ask me about my family and if the children were doing alright. I can honestly say that I can't recall one time when he said anything bad about anybody else. He lived a simple life and seemed very happy with his lot. On behalf of the staff, councillors and citizens of Victoria, I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family. May you cherish the memories you have.
Mayor Barry Dooley
