Cynthia, Brenda and Scott........... I was so sorry to hear about your Dad. He was such a special person, so kind and considerate. I remember one summer when Cindy and I were probably twelve, getting invited to go camping with the Burden family, minus Brenda who couldn't make it. We drove all the way to Corner Brook with a new pop-up camper. It was beautiful out there, so warm. We played while Mr. and Mrs. Burden put up the camper. One thing we learned very quickly was to not throw stones at wasps nests!! I was the unlucky one to get stung on the eyelid! Mr. Burden put the kettle on the fire, made tea and put the used teabag on my eye. It was amazing, the pain stopped and the swelling went down.
I will always remember his gentleness and his kindness. Rest in peace, Mr. Burden.

Brenda, Cynthia , Scott and Family. So very sad to learn of Uncle Geralds’ passing. The love he had for his family and friends was evident in the love he received from all who knew him.
I was so very happy to visit with him on our last visit to Carbonear. To see his smile brought back incredible memories that will never be forgotten.
My deepest condolences. Thinking of you all in this difficult time.

Sincerest condolences to Scott and family on Gerald’s passing. Growing up in Carbonear I remember Gerald introduced me (alongside Scott) to his workshop with engines in various states of mechanical repair. I remember it being such a cool workshop with tools everywhere. It left such an impression on me as a boy and was the catalyst for a lifelong interest in all things mechanical.
Gerald would also drop us off way in over the hills with the rods and .22 for a night in the woods and return in a day or two and listen to our adventure on the way out in the Ford.
Thank you Gerald for providing these great experiences for this young kid in the back road!
