I was deeply saddened to just recently hear of Reg's passing. I remember when going to Trade School, Reg used to greet me with his big smile, usually a funny story or joke and of course that chuckle. To meet him anywhere it was always "How ya doin young woman?" or "How's it goin young Penney girl?" He'd catch my hand and I'd give him a kiss on the cheek, whereupon he'd say "Better watch the wife don't catch ya." Oh how I'll miss him. So Reg say HI to everyone in Heaven for me and be sure to save a a chuckle and a kiss. Take care old friend, you've left me with many precious memories.

Elizabeth I was very saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. I regret not being able to visit with you. He was a fine gentleman who was so proud of the work he did as a cooper. I recall him showing me a National Geographic article about him and his work. He carried it in his wallett. My condolences to you and your Mom and family. Frank (& Deli) Davis

I just read of Mr. Saunders' passing in the Telegram, and write to express my sincere condolences to Mrs. Saunders, Elizabeth and Bill. I remember Mr. Saunders very well from my early childhood on Harbour Rock Hill, a small boy standing in the doorway of the cooperage and watching as he and his men built those amazing barrels. When I think of Reg, I remember the noise of the saws, the wonderful smell of fresh wood, the nustling activity of the interior of cooper shop, and the view of harbour from the steps outside.
