My sister, Mary Elizabeth (Hopkins) Squires joins me in extending our sincere condolences to your whole family. Of course our father, Lloyd Hopkins, knew the Noel family well from common roots in Freshwater, but for Elizabeth and me it was the activity around the Bemister reunion 10 years ago that renewed a family link and it was truly a joy and an honour to meet Ted and other close family members. He was a lovely man and I'm sure has left a remarkable lifetime of happy memories. Like Joy Holbrook, whom I was talking to earlier, I hope to see some of you at the reunion this summer where we will celebrate family and honour Ted's memory again - as we will others who have died since our last celebration a decade ago.

To Roland, Davis, Glenys and Gee, We are so sorry to hear of uncle Ted's passing. He will be truly missed by all whose who knew him, a quite gentle caring person who always had the best interests of others on his mind. He has been a large part of my life not only as an uncle, but a good neignbour ( not good but great ) since from the time I first moved to Parsons' Garden as a boy but also when I moved back to my own house to raise my own family. If not for him we would not have as good a home as we do because he along with Dad were my unofficial foremen and carpenter instructors during the construction. As Stacey said to me last night, that it was hard enough not seeing him this past few summers out in the yard, let alone knowing that he is not going to be there anymore but for in our hearts. Time and distance may keep us apart, but you are all very close to our hearts in this time of sorrow. Scott & Doreen Burton, NB

I am very saddened by the passing of Ted Noel. I met him in the early ‘80’s when he and Mabel would come to the US to visit his daughter and my neighbor, Glenys Flanders, and her family. I remember the witty banter between him, Mabel and my late husband. What good times we had! Years later after Mabel passed away, I finally made a trip with Glenys to Newfoundland and Ted treated me as he treats everyone, that is, with exceptional hospitality and kindness. I’ve made three trips to Newfoundland and the reception was always the same. Ted Noel was one of the few people I have met in my life who was consistently rooted in his values. He was deeply devoted to his family, his country and to his Lord. While he accepted many of the changes of modern life, he epitomized what many of us who visit Newfoundland observe are the traditional Newfoundland values of decency, unselfishness and consideration of others. I feel as if I have lost one of my most beloved relatives because Ted made me feel as if I were a part of the family. I send my most profound condolences to his wonderful family and to all who knew and loved him.
