Randell and Families: An Irish Funeral Prayer Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Everything remains as it was. The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no sorrow in your tone. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again. Source: derived from a sermon written by Henry Scott Holland and delivered in St. Paul's (London) on 15 May 1910, at which time the body of King Edward VII was lying in state at Westminster. Although not originally derived from Irish writings, versions of this sermon have been used at many Irish and Catholic funerals over the years. Niall and Gale Butt Carbonear

Brian, Randall, Virginia and family No words were ever created to express the loss and pain that we are all feeling. We were saddened to hear about the passing of your mother. She was truly a very strong and remarkable woman. A mother, aunt, sister, and grandmother who enriched the lives of all whom she loved and loved her. Her gracious and caring smile will always be missed. My children will always remember their Aunt Myra (whom they met for the first time at the Babb Family Reunion) as a kind and loving person who hugged them like she had known them all of their lives. Though we are unable to be there in person, our thoughts and prayers are sent with love and sympathy. May God Bless you all at this difficult time and help you overcome your sorrow and pain.Love Paul Wendy and family

Uncle Brian, Becky, Josh, and Sarah and Babb Family; I was so sad when I heard about "Nanny Babb's" passing. It was only this week that I dropped by while you were all home and saw her in the typical jolly fashion in which she sat in her chair as you all sat around her. She seemed so content to have Becky, Sophie, Norah, Josh and Sarah, along with their families sat around her in the front room. It is almost as if she waited for you to visit one last time! We will remember her fondly! Pam (Edwards), Dean, Dylan, and Zoe Whelan

Brian, Rennie, Virginia and Families, I was so very sorry to hear about Aunt Myra's passing. Your Mother was a wonderful woman and I will always remember her as outgoing and full of fun. She will be sorely missed not only by family but by all who knew and loved her. Although time is now the only panacea for the sorrow you feel and the void that her passing has created, I hope it will give you some measure of comfort to know that as long as there is breath she will live on in our hearts. Love to you all.
