A long time ago, Stan and I shared an apartment for several months in Toronto, and before that we, along with many of our friends, were buddying around and grew up together in Carbonear.
He was always a friend and always went out of his way to provide support and assistance. In Toronto we went everywhere and saw everything that the city had to offer, including a Steppenwolf concert, Niagara Falls, the CNE and lots more. There was never a thought that it was not going to last forever.
Later, in my university years and my time as MHA, he was always a supporter and never shy in offering advice and mentoring. However, like all Newfoundland diaspora, we lost contact in recent decades and communicated far less than perhaps we should have.
I offer to his wife, Marie, his brother, Dave, and his sister, Pauline, my most sincere, personal condolences. And, to all those who are aggrieved at his loss, you have my kindest sympathies.

Stan was a teenager when I was a little girl! A very proud Parsons. Like us all he was kind went out of his way to keep all his younger cousins out of trouble. Our great grandpa Parsons he worked and very hard!
The only time I would see him was a Sunday afternoon lying by the big wall clock. Another one gone it's so sad. I am spiritual I'm sure Stan will be channelling me in due time . Love you all... There's more to life than this world

Marie & Family: We were saddened to hear of Stan’s passing. I got to know Stan during Bide A While days in the mid sixties. He and the boys came to Northern Bay for the weekend dances and that was where we all got to know each other. In recent years Bob and I often ran into Stan at Robin’s in the mall. Stan would always come sit with us for a chat before going home. He told wonderful stories. The fun part was when Stan would call out to me from his table with his buddies “Marilyn, Are you going to Bide A While the weekend?” I’d probably say I wasn’t allowed out because I was late getting home last weekend. We’d have a chuckle over that.
Stan will be missed by many but mostly by you and your sons and their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Mrs. Parsons, Dean, Brant and families we are so sorry for your loss.
Dean, I did not know your dad personally, having only met him once or twice in passing, but I remember a story you once told me that still makes me chuckle, involving long haul trucking, a little baseball bat, and a guy who tried to hop in the wrong truck one night at a stop light somewhere in the US… I bet he was a great guy to have on your side.
Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. Jamie and Tanya Morgan

Stan was a solid man who enjoyed life. He was always good to me and always had time to pause for a story and a drink with friends and family. Whenever he reunited with people he was always genuinely interested about their life, their stories, and what was going on. The “heimlich manoeuvre” he violently performed on a man chocking on a Caplin fish at a Big Stop is my favourite story. As Stan said, “that fish was going to come out one end or the other”. To put it mildly, he will be missed.
