Obituary of Viola Clarke
Please share a memory of Viola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom, Viola Mary Clarke on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear. She was 91 years old.
Mom was predeceased by Dad, Philip A. Clarke just three years ago. She was born in Carbonear on September 26, 1932 to Harry and Eva Cole. After marriage, she and Dad lived in Victoria for a number of years, before moving to St. John’s where they lived for over thirty years. After retirement, they moved back to Carbonear.
Mom was dearly loved and highly respected by all her children and grandchildren; a source of strength that we all relied on. She was a faithful member of the Pentecostal churches in Victoria, Carbonear, and St. John’s and had a firm belief in God and His promises to us.
In addition to Dad and her parents, she was predeceased by her sister: Lillian; and brother: George.
She leaves to mourn, her six children: Victoria Chaytor, Carolyn (Brian) Winsor, Gene (Donna), Stephen (Beverley), Vance (Jeanne), and Jim (Michelle); fourteen grandchildren: Mitchell (Bev), Marshall (Chrissy), Jeffrey (Sarah), Bradley (Carly), Daniel (Rachel), Vance (Maria), Vaughn (Eva), Andre (Kristen), Victoria Lynn (Tommy), Dannielle (Jason), Philip (Kerra), Peter (Robyn), Katie (Paddy), and Emily; thirty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother: Albert (Frances) Cole; sister-in-law: Bessie Cole; and also a wide circle of other relatives and friends.
We would like to thank the staff of Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion for their care of Mom over the last two years.
