Obituary of Bruce Charles Butt

It is with great sadness that the family of Bruce Charles Butt, St. John’s announce that he passed peacefully away on July 2, 2023 at the age of 73 after a lengthy illness, with his nephew Bruce by his side. Predeceased by his parents: Cecil and Nellie V. Butt; brother: Wallace Butt; brother-in-law: Calvin Chaulk; niece: Melanie McLeod (nee Chaulk). Leaving to mourn are his sisters: Lorraine Chaulk, Yvonne Pelley (Charles); brothers: Harold Butt (Nina), Douglas Butt (Yvonne); nephews: Bruce Chaulk (Elaine), Stephen Butt (Michelle), David Butt (Suzanne), Andrew Pelley (Maya); nieces: Michelle Newby (Brian), Christina Butt-Osmond (Shawn), Heather Kelly (Cory), Jennifer Pelley (Neil Robitaille), Susan Randell (Glenn), Karen Grépin (Leo); as well as many friends and family. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s (7th floor west) for the care they gave to Bruce during his final days. They would also like to thank Dr. Roger Butler and the staff at the Home Dementia unit of Eastern Health who provided care to Bruce over the past several years. Interment will take place in United Church Cemetery, Freshwater, on Saturday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
