Obituary of Tony Galway
Please share a memory of Tony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 12, 2022, Tony Galway of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 60 years.
Predeceased by parents: Leo and Patricia 'Patsy'; sister: Pat; nephew: Darryl Gosse; father-in-law: Andrew McCarthy; brother-in-law: Bill Dunigan.
Leaving to mourn with many cherished memories, his best friend and wife of 27 years, Margie; two daughters, the lights of his life: Katelyn (Stephen) and Emily (Mackenzie); his cherished cats: Smokey, Mindy, and Trixie; six siblings: Sandra (David) Galway, Dennis (Linda) Galway, Daphne (Joe Cooper), Gerard (Carolyn) Galway, Jacinta Galway, and Derek (Glenda Howse); aunt: Ruby Whelan; mother-in-law: Angela McCarthy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Paul (Marg) McCarthy, Gary (Sharmane) McCarthy, and Andrea (John) Peddle; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Tony was a loving and devoted husband to Margie and the proudest dad to two wonderful girls Katelyn and Emily. He was the best brother, uncle, in law, and friend anyone could wish for. Whether it was brewing the perfect cup of coffee or having a conversation with you about theoretical physics, Tony’s knowledge and curiosity was boundless. An avid reader and a keen interest in current events were just a few of Tony’s hobbies. He enjoyed good music played loud, sharing photos and stories of days gone by of his beloved Riverhead, and a glass of scotch, neat. Merely saying he was funny is an understatement. His wit and quick replies were incomparable; you could always count on a good time and belly laugh in his presence. Many have witnessed his patience, willingness to share his knowledge and to lend a helping hand whenever he was able.
To say that he was loved and will be dearly missed is an understatement of great proportions. Until we meet again…

The tide recedes, but leaves behind
Bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down but gentle warmth
Still lingers on the land.
The music stops and yet it lingers on
In sweet refrain.
For every joy that passes
Something beautiful remains.
