Gloria and I want to pass on our condolences to all family, friends, and comrades. I first met this soldier in 1964 while serving in St. John's. Last time I saw John Michael (as we called him) was at the Signals reunion in Kingston Ontario. We had a few laughs as usual and hugged like brothers, which we were in the sense of military comradeship. VVV and rest in peace John.

My wife, Sharon and I wish to convey our deepest sympathy and condolences to John's family. I worked with John in Grand Falls/Windsor when I was stationed there from 1976-1981. He was a fine fellow who always had your back. He was a funny guy who used his humor to diffuse the sometimes stressful calls. So sorry for your loss.

My condolences to the family of John Michael Murphy, AKA "Murph". He answered the call for us so many times and often gave us the extra details of the call to help keep us safe. Kind hearted man with a smile for everybody. Add my thoughts and prayers to the boys who have already added their condolences as we all found a friend in John during the time in Grand Falls and Gander. A rest well earned John. RIP. A.J. CARTER

Condolences to the family of Comrade John - a true Legionnaire who devoted many hours to Branch 23. I used to see him at Natonal Cribbage tournaments where he represented Nfld/Lab Command - always a good representative for his Branch and command. Rest in Eternal Peace my friend.

To the entire family, my sincerest condolences on John’s passing. He was a true gentleman, and modelled professionalism at its best as an OCC operator, Civilian Member of the Force, and passionate Veteran.
When I entered Grand Falls Detachment in the summer of 1979, he was the first person I met. I was fortunate enough to encounter him later in my service, and it was a real pleasure each and every time.

Please accept my sincere condolences at this sad time. John was the telecoms operator in Grand Falls
When I came back to Nfld. He was a very competent at what he did. His sense of humour and pleasant manner will never be forgotten by ‘the guys on the road’. He had our backs and we knew it.
Thank you for your service
Rest In Peace John Micheal Murphy.

Sincere condolences on the passing of Murph as I fondly called him. I had the privilege of working in the next office to him while he was with the RCMP Gander OCC. Being from Carbonear myself he always loved to chat and reminisce about people, places and basically anything Carbonear. We shared many laughs and I shall remember him with with a smile. Rest In Peace Murph.

I am so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Jack was an inspiration to me as we had both been posted to CFB Gander as Detachment Commander of the Sigs Unit there approximately 20 years apart. We had actually met when I was in Gander and he was there working with the RCMP. We loved talking about how things had changed between the time had had done the job and when I had. He was a wonderful crib player and I enjoyed playing with him and also watching him and Ed Samson play every morning at the Legion. My condolences to Pat, Kelly and Mary Ellen. He will not be forgotten.

Pat, Kelly and Mary Ellen: I met John Murphy back in the Leo Fitzpatrick days I suppose during a game of Crib.
One day we were both in line at the check out having a chat just about anything. I was next in line. As I was leaving the check out area I heard John saying to the cashier "Who was that young man?"
Well, I had to laugh.
Pat, Kelly and Mary Ellen my condolences.
May John's memory be a blessing.
