Passed peacefully away at Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, Rita Sheppard of Harbour Grace South, age 81 years. Predeceased by husband: Gordon; parents: Harold and Alice Mercer; infant brother: Maxwell; brother: Harold; sisters: Belle, Minnie (Randell) Peddle, and Maisie (Warren) Smith; brothers-in-law: Wilson Sheppard, Harvey Mercer, Selby Crane, and Joey Coombs. Leaving to mourn, four sons: Bruce (Linda), Max (Betty), Wade (Laurie), and Stephen (Kim); seven grandchildren: Shannon (April), Terri (Lee), Adam (Kayla), Taylor (Ken), Bailey, Tyler, and Kianna; six great-grandchildren: Sophie, Allie, Luke, Nicholas, Summer, and Archer; two sisters: Sylvia (Winston) Hussey, and Sandra (Rev. Michael Carruthers); sisters-in-law: Nellie, Ruth, Freda, and Elizabeth; brothers-in-law: Melvin Lynch and Raymond Mercer; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Thursday, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:30 a.m. 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.; 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, February 8 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Peter's Anglican Church, Harbour Grace South. Interment in St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Grace South. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
