ASH, William James 'Bill' - Passed peacefully away at the Waterford Hospital, St. John's on Saturday, October 1, 2011, William James 'Bill' Ash of Carbonear, age 79 years. Predeceased by parents: Allen James and Mary Ann (Burke); sister: Emma and brother-in-law: Leo McCarthy; aunt: Lillian and uncle: Sam Green; nephew: Leo McCarthy. Leaving to mourn, six nephews: Jim (Marilyn) McCarthy and Fred (Laura) McCarthy, both of Pictou, NS, Steve (Marg) McCarthy, Port aux Basques, Larry (Wallace) McCarthy, St. John's, Tony (Monica) McCarthy, Fort McMurray, AB and Kevin (Penny) McCarthy, Clarenville; seven nieces: Anna Mary (Dave) Follett, Labrador City, Phyllis (Joe) Fry, Kelligrews, Ruth (George) Coish, Lewisporte, Peggy (Eric) Davis, Pasadena, Frances (Bill) Nichols, Truro, NS, Linda Parsons, Stephenville and Tina (Harold) Slade, Brooks, AB; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear after 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 3. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Carbonear. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to take place on Thursday, October 6 at 3:00 p.m. in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Visitation hours at Noel's Funeral Homes are 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. daily.
