To the Dean family, I was very saddened to hear the passing of Gord. I've basically have known Gord all my life threw the minor hockey system. I had recently got to know Gord even better by refereeing, which he did quite a bit. On those weekend tournaments when he wasn't around, we knew it. Nothing would go right, Or if I forgot something, whether it be my referee whistle, or my Cee Bees jersey, he knew where to get one. Gord was a dedicated man, whether it be family, by meeting one of his kids at the airport, or to the rink, showing up at 7 am on a cold morning to referee. He will be greatly missed, which we have already begun to see. He is someone I am proud to call a good friend. Brandon Shute

To Mrs. Dean & Family...we are so saddened to hear of Gord's death...my three children grew up with Gord Dean, at the stadium and in turn so have my three grandsons. He was so much a part of the Stadium family, and was respected by all who got to know him. We have seen him open the stadium @ 530 in the morning to make sure the players got their practice before school. Children always will remember him as a very caring person, always making sure to ask you if someone was sick or why they weren't at practice..It was the little things he did for the children, that made him such a special person. We do hope his Family can take some comfort in the fact that you had a very Special man in your life and one that will always be remembered with a smile and will never be forgotten. Take your special place in Heaven, Gord, and we can only hope that there is another as special as you, waiting to fill your shoes at our Local Stadium...May God be with you all, as you endure such a difficult time in your lives...Take care & God Bless!

To the Dean Family, We are so sorry for your loss. It is yet another sad day for our hockey community and indeed the entire CeeBees organization. If you every wondered about the level of respect that Gord had you only had to be present at the Minor Hockey Banquet when his name was mentioned and the children erupted in applause. Gord was one of a kind and one that will not be replaced. It will now take many hands to do the work of this one volunteer. What you wouldn’t give to have a dollar for the penalties he’s called, stats he’s recorded on a score sheet, coffees he had at the rink and young hockey lives he’s touched. We have to be so thankful for all the good times on the road, games shared, arguments had that were quickly forgotten, and how proud he was of players’ improvements and their accomplishments. Too many times we have had to say goodbye too early. May our CeeBees Alumni members Max, Don, Craig and now Gord eternally Rest in Peace. May God’s blessing be with the Dean Family and Gord’s dear hockey buddies at this very difficult time. Tracy Shute CeeBee Stars Senior Hockey

It is with a heavy heart that I express my deepest sympathy to the family of Gord Dean. As a minor hockey player Gord always provided that physical presence in the stadium. I could always count on Gord to find me a jersey or spare piece of equipment when I forgot mine so that I could go on the ice. He always made sure that I knew about any special event(like referee clinic or AAA tryouts) and encouraged me to participate. On days when I would referee several games in a row, he made sure that I had those few minutes to grab a bite to eat. Gord, I will always remember you as a kind soul who gave to others and expected little or nothing in return. May God provide you with eternal rest as your reward for your efforts while you walked this earth.

To the Dean and extended family, i am so sorry to here of Gord's passing.I hope that reading some of these condolences will let you know how much Gord meant to alot of people, and how much he will be missed. For many of years i thought Gord lived at the S.W. Moores stadium due to him spending so much time there. Wether he was reffing, working the score clock and announcing, or even just sitting in the minor hockey room window watching a practice or game, he was always a fixture in the rink. I believe he was one of the last great volonteers that the hockey community had. I only wished that Hr. Grace won Hockey Ville last year so that he could see how much he has done for the CEE BEE'S minor hockey system, and to be shown apprication for his years of commitment. I am sure that players that have known him for a while will be skating in the cornor of the minor hockey room, and expecting to see him in that window. R.I.P Gord

When I first started to play minor hockey 31 years ago at the age of 4, Mr. Dean was in the stadium helping to run the affairs of the Hr. Grace, Upper Island Cove, Carbonear and Old Perlican Minor Hockey Associations. As time went on and I spent more time at the stadium, I grew to know him as Gord. If you needed pucks, pylons or a referee, Gord was the man to see. There are no words to describe how large a loss Gord will be to the CeeBees Minor Hockey Association. In all the years I was at the stadium playing, watching or coaching hockey I never seen Gord get upset with anybody. His family can take comfort in knowing that was the kind hearted and good natured person that Gord was and he will always be a legend at the S.W. Moores Memorial Stadium and minor hockey room in Hr. Grace. Gord, take a break, grab a coffee and pull up a chair at the window in the minor hockey room next to your buddies Don and Craig and let someone else get the pucks and pylons. Rest in peace Gord, you deserve it. Neil Shute CeeBees Player and Coach

To Margie,Eugene,Janice And Carson, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Gord was a very well known man and was well respected,I often would see him out to the mall or just out around, if he didn't have time to stop and have a talk with you he would make time for it even if it was just a hello and hows ya doin, His passion in life was baseball and hockey if he was not umping the ball games in Victoria he was umping them in Carbonear and alot of people got to know him through this and if he was not at the ball games he was at the stadium with the hockey games I am sure he made alot of friends over the years and he will be missed by them So Gord my friend Go Rest High On That Mountain For Your Work On Earth Is Done,Go To Heaven A Shoutin,Love For The Father And The Son...Although you have finished your race here on earth your journey to heaven is just begining..God Bless and Rest In Peace

Taking time to express our families’ sympathy upon the passing of Gord. I first met Gord a the fish plant in Harbour Grace and from there in January of 1980 at the S.W Moores Memorial Stadium. In an often thankless role, demanding countless hours Gord served the coaches, players and executive of the Conception Bay North Minor Hockey Association. It is in this light that I believe Gord Dean personified volunteerism. Anyone who has committed so much to a volunteer position knows and understands his commitment. His duties both official and unofficial were carried out with fairness and honesty. He will definitely be missed and is certainly a great loss: firstly to his family and secondly to the minor hockey community. Out thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Bob, Madonna, Bobby and Tommy

To the Dean family: Please know that you are all in my thoughts today. I have many great memories of Gord throughout my years growing up at the ballfield that I will cherish forever. Gord was truely one of a kind and was one of the most dedicated people I have ever met. I will always remember walking into the ballfield in Carbonear and the first person I would meet would be Gord standing in the doorway of the shed. He would greet me "hello David" and we would have a quick chat about anything at all. I had the chance to attend the Softball Canada Hall of Fame dinner in Regina this past year and got to listen to a long time umpire from Alberta talk about his career and how much he enjoyed what he did. I can remember sitting back in my chair and saying to myself "I know someone like that". Gord will always be a part of everyone who played ball in Carbonear and I will never forget the positive influence he had on my life.

He was a ref at many of our games growing up and just last year he reffed our oldest sons first game ever in Hr. Grace! It was great to see it come full circle.
