Well, I don't say I will be the first to say I sit here writing this in tears. Words cannot express how much I wish to be back home with my family at this difficult time. My thoughts are with you all. The only comfort I have is knowing that Nan is in a better place and with her true love, Poppy Hodder(Gilbert).
I never was a short talker and I am worse as a writer so if you are in a hurrystop reading now.
Nan was like the GodFather of our Hodder clan. She has taught us all the morals and values we live our lives by each day. She really touched all of us (not only her children but their children and their children!) But as I think back now I do not have one single story that jumps out in my mind. I know this sounds silly but I would like to think that if there is a Mrs. Clause out there somewheres...She would look up to our nan and ask her advice!
Lily was the most picture perfect grandmother of all. To her, her family was her world. She was always busy at something to provide for her family. She'd either be in the kitchen cooking or baking something delicious, knitting or crocheting something beautiful, tidying up an already immaculate house, or just being in the background to yell "Don't go out without yer hat n' gloves, ye'll catch ya death!!!"
She was a kind spirit, a loving woman, who lived her life with dignity and lived by the morals and values she taught. Although she has passed on from this earth, she will never die. As she is with each of us in our family and we will pass her memory on to those that come after us.
I am 20 weeks along now in my pregnancy and up until two days ago I was convinced I was having a girlA girl that ever since I was a young child I knew I would name Lily. I even told my sister when her first girl was born(13 years ago)That Lily was mine! Seems so silly to me now. This one will be a boy so I will have to keep trying and trying to get my perfect Lily. But I know when my little man grows up he will know about his history and where his roots came from. He will hear stories of Nan and feel her love through me each day. And I look forward to yelling "Don't go out without yer hat n' gloves, ye'll catch ya death!!!"
I love you Nan. Until we meet again.
Janiene
