Obituary of Mary Whitman

WHITMAN, Mary Van Horne Gates- Passed suddenly away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, July 22, 2005, Mary Gates Whitman of Harbour Grace, age 83 years. Predeceased by parents: Lothrop and Belle Whitman, sisters: Ruth Whitman, Dora Adams and Dorothy Cron, brother: Theodore 'Bus' Whitman. Leaving to mourn one brother: Lothrop 'Lote' (Jean) Whitman, Pointe Claire, Quebec; two sisters: Jean Wigner, Syracuse, NY, USA and Hope Whitman, Harbour Grace; special great-great nieces: Jessica Cron, Ashley Oates and Morgan Reynolds, all of Harbour Grace; special great-great-nephew: James Oates, Harbour Grace; special great-niece: Michele Cron, Harbour Grace and with whom she resided; special nieces: Jane (Kevin) Lynch and Ann Cron, both of Harbour Grace; good friend: Alice Kimball, Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA, also a number of other nieces, nephews and relatives and friends. Resting at NOEL'S FUNERAL HOME, HARVEY STREET, HARBOUR GRACE with a private visitation for family and close friends on Sunday, July 24 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. A memorial service will take place at a time to be announced. No flowers by request; as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Janeway Children's Hospital or to the Alzheimer's Society or to a children's charity of one's choice.
