Obituary of Russell Hayward Howell

HOWELL, Russell Hayward- Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Sunday, September 3, 2006, Russell Hayward Howell of Carbonear, in his 90th year; an athlete, hunter, fireman, intellectual and family man. Former employee of John Rorke & Sons and Saunders, Howell & Company, Carbonear. Leaving to mourn his wife Madge of 58 years; seven children: Pamela (Peter) Moore, Ontario, Duncan (Eva), Carbonear, John (Daphne), Eastport, Gertrude (Gerald) Dominie, Pasadena, Willis (Fay), Foxtrap, Deborah (Jackson) Butt, Carbonear and Carolyn, Ontario; ten grandchildren: Keith, Claire, Jared, Peter, William, Cheryl, Phillip, John, Sarah and Andrew; three great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Rachel and Bethany; one sister: Lavina Snow, Carbonear; and also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear until 12:00 noon Tuesday, September 5. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. from Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Interment in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. Flowers declined with thanks; donations in his memory may be made to the Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation hours by request of the family, Monday, Sept. 4 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
